By-law 2025-062: A by-law to amend Zoning By-law 2016-040 (Mill Street Heritage)

This by-law updates the Zoning By-law 2016-040 to protect historic buildings in the Old Mill Heritage Conservation District. It applies specifically to you if you own the property at 12 Mill Street.

What it does

The by-law introduces heritage retention requirements for the site. These rules make sure that any renovations or changes to the exterior keep the building’s original character intact. It also grants a small setback variance, allowing a slightly reduced distance between the structure and the street line where standard zoning rules would normally prevent it.

Who it applies to

The rules apply specifically to the property at 12 Mill Street. You should still follow the general heritage guidelines in the Zoning By-law and the Heritage Conservation By-law 2020-085 if you live in the Old Mill Heritage Conservation District.

Fines and enforcement

Violating the zoning rules can lead to a fine under the Provincial Offences Act. The City’s Planning and Development department enforces these standards, and By-law Enforcement officers can issue tickets for non-compliance.

When it takes effect

Council passed this by-law on May 12, 2025. It takes effect immediately upon adoption unless a different date is specified in the final text.

What it amends

This by-law amends Zoning By-law 2016-040. It does not repeal any existing by-laws. You can find a certified copy at the Clerk’s office, located at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1.
