By-law 2025-034: A by-law authorizing an agreement with the Regional Health Authority for Emergency Services
By-law 2025-034 was passed by Council on March 10, 2025, at the regular monthly meeting. The purpose of this by-law is to give the Mayor and City Manager the legal authority to sign an agreement with the Regional Health Authority. This partnership will provide enhanced emergency medical response services specifically for the Northgate area.
Why does this matter to you? The new Fire Station 2 at 880 Northgate Boulevard is being built to improve response times across the city. This by-law ensures that paramedics from the Regional Health Authority will work alongside our local fire crews to deliver faster care when emergencies happen. It applies to all residents and businesses in the Northgate neighbourhood and supports the expansion of our public safety infrastructure.
There are no fines or fees for residents associated with this by-law. It focuses entirely on inter-agency cooperation and infrastructure funding. The agreement takes effect on April 1, 2025, once all necessary health and safety reviews are complete. This by-law does not amend or repeal any existing city by-laws.
