By-law 2025-085: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (transit detours near East Wrenford Waste Management Facility)

Purpose

This by-law changes the regular path for Wrenford Transit Routes 10, 12, and 13. The changes are needed so construction crews can safely work near the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. The detour will stay in effect for eight weeks, starting on June 23, 2025.

What changes for riders

During the detour, buses will not stop at the usual stops along Concession 4 Road and the facility access road. You will need to board or exit at the nearby temporary stops on Ambrel Lake Road and Eastfield Road. Look for updated route maps on the transit website and at the Downtown Transit Terminal. If you use Wrenford Access specialized transit, your trip will be adjusted to match the new route. Please allow extra time for your ride.

Who it applies to

This by-law applies to all Wrenford Transit services that travel through the affected area. It does not change any other transit routes, and it does not affect regular bus schedules or fares.

Fines and penalties

There are no new fines attached to this by-law. However, drivers must follow all posted detour signs and temporary traffic control measures. Failing to follow temporary traffic signs can result in a Provincial Offences Act fine under the existing Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075.

When it takes effect

The by-law takes effect on June 23, 2025, and will expire automatically after eight weeks unless Council extends it. All changes will be reviewed by the Transit Manager and reported back to Council.

What it amends

This by-law amends the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to add temporary transit detour routes. It does not repeal any existing sections.

A certified copy of this by-law is available for review at the Clerk's Office, located at 100 Mercer Street, during regular business hours.
