By-law 2025-162: Park and Facility Use By-law

Purpose

This by-law sets clear rules for how you can use Wrenford's parks and recreation facilities. It covers behaviour, what equipment you can bring, and how to keep yourself and others safe while you are on City grounds.

What it covers

The by-law applies to every park, trail, rink, arena, pool, and community centre the City operates. It makes sure our shared spaces stay welcoming and safe for everyone.

  • Equipment and gear: You may bring bikes, skates, rollerblades, chairs, and coolers to parks and facilities. However, courts are strictly for racquet sports. Do not walk through active playing areas while games are in progress.
  • Pets and animals: Pets must be on a short leash at all times unless you are in a designated off-leash area. You must clean up after your animal and dispose of waste properly.
  • Food and drink: Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in most parks. Glass containers are not permitted for safety reasons. Alcohol is strictly prohibited unless a special event permit has been issued.
  • Smoking and vaping: Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are not allowed in any indoor recreation facility or enclosed park area.
  • Rink and ice rules: When skating on outdoor or indoor rinks, everyone must follow the ice safety rules. Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied on the ice by someone who is 14 or older. Skating aids, sledges, and wheelchairs are fully welcome, and staff will help you find a good spot.
  • Goals and nets: You may set up temporary goals, nets, or practice equipment, but you must pack them up and take them home when you leave. The City is not responsible for lost or damaged personal property.
  • Respect and safety: All users must follow the Park and Facility Use By-law 2025-162. Aggressive behaviour, fighting, or dangerous play will result in immediate removal from the site. Noise levels must remain respectful of nearby residents at all times.
