By-law 2025-069: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (Market Square Speed Limit)

This by-law changes the rules for how fast you can drive in the heart of downtown Wrenford. The City of Wrenford wants to make Market Square and the streets around it safer for everyone, especially people walking and biking. To do this, the speed limit is lowered from 50 km/h to 30 km/h on Market Square and several adjacent streets.

What it does

The main change is a reduced speed limit. This rule applies to all vehicles driving on Market Square, as well as the connecting streets that lead directly into it. The new limit is 30 km/h. This change helps drivers slow down and gives pedestrians more time to react if someone steps into the road.

Who it applies to

This rule applies to every driver in Wrenford. It covers personal cars, delivery trucks, and transit buses. If you drive on Market Square or the nearby streets covered by this amendment, you must follow the new 30 km/h limit at all times.

Fines and penalties

Speeding in this area is a serious safety issue. If you are caught driving over the 30 km/h limit, you will face a fine under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. The standard fine for a first offence is $75.00. Repeated violations will cost more and may add penalty points to your driving licence. You can pay fines at the Provincial Offences Court or online through the City's service portal.

When it takes effect

This by-law took effect on June 1, 2025. The City installed new speed limit signs and road markings to let drivers know about the change. If you drive through the area, please watch for the new signs and adjust your speed accordingly.

What it amends

This by-law amends the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. It updates the speed limit schedules listed in the original by-law to reflect the new 30 km/h zone. No parts of the by-law were repealed.

A certified copy of this by-law is available to view or request from the City Clerk's office at Wrenford City Hall. You can contact the Clerk's office during regular business hours to request a copy.
