By-law 2025-176: A by-law authorizing an agreement with the Director of Public Works
This by-law authorizes the Director of Public Works to sign a maintenance agreement with a contracted agency. The agreement covers winter snow removal services on public roads throughout the City. The contractor will handle plowing main roads, residential streets, and key intersections once snowfall reaches the City's set amounts. The by-law also allows the City to purchase necessary supplies, such as salt and sand, to keep the roads safe during the winter months.
The rules apply to all public roads under City control. You do not need to do anything to qualify for the service. The City continues to manage the winter parking ban and the two-hour overnight parking restriction as outlined in the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097. This by-law does not create any new fines or fees for you. It simply approves the funding and contract structure for the service.
The agreement takes effect on December 1, 2025, and runs through March 31, 2026, or until the snow season ends. It does not change or cancel any existing by-laws. A certified copy of the by-law is available for review at the Clerk's office in City Hall, or you can request one through the Freedom of Information process.
