By-law 2025-111: A by-law to appoint By-law Enforcement Officers
This by-law names specific individuals as By-law Enforcement Officers for the City of Wrenford. When you see an officer in uniform or with a badge, they are authorized to enforce municipal by-laws across the city. This includes checking for compliance, issuing tickets, and laying information in provincial offences court under the Municipal Act, 2001 and other Ontario laws.
These officers work for the City and answer to the City Manager. Their main job is to make sure rules about noise, parking, property standards, and waste management are followed. If you break a rule, the officer will explain what you did wrong and may issue a fine. The exact amount you pay depends on the by-law you broke. For example, a first offence for a noise violation carries a $100.00 fine, while parking in a restricted zone can cost $75.00.
The appointments take effect on August 11, 2025, when the council passed this by-law. They will stay in place until the next general election or until council passes a new by-law to replace them. This by-law replaces the previous appointment by-law from 2023.
A certified copy of this by-law is available for public inspection at the Clerk's Office at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1. You can also view it online through the By-laws page or contact the By-law Enforcement team for questions.
