By-law 2025-082: Municipal Elections By-law 2025-082
This by-law updates how the City of Wrenford runs its elections. Council passed it on June 9, 2025, during the regular Council meeting that day.
What it does
The main goal is to make voting and counting easier and more transparent for you. It creates a permanent electors registry so you can keep your voting information on file year-round instead of registering from scratch for every vote. It also changes how votes are counted. Instead of relying only on machines, the city will hand-count ballots to make sure every vote is accurate. Finally, it sets new nomination rules for anyone who wants to run for mayor or council.
Who it applies to
These changes apply to all Wrenford residents who are eligible to vote, as well as candidates, election staff, and the people managing the election for the city.
Fines
This by-law does not set new fines. If you break election rules, the city will handle it under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
When it takes effect
The by-law takes effect immediately. All the new rules will be in place for the municipal election on October 26, 2026.
What it amends
This by-law updates the city's existing election rules and lines them up with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. It does not repeal any previous by-laws.
A certified copy of the full by-law is available from the Clerk's Office at Wrenford City Hall.
