By-law 2025-067: A by-law to authorize an agreement with the Director of Public Works (Ambrel Lake Construction)

This by-law was passed by Council on May 12, 2025 at the May 12, 2025 Council meeting. Its main purpose is to allow the Director of Public Works to sign a construction agreement with the chosen contractor for the new affordable housing project at Ambrel Lake Park.

What it does

The by-law gives the Director of Public Works the legal authority to move forward with the construction contract. It covers the site preparation, building work, and all related permits needed to bring the affordable housing units to life in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood.

Who it applies to

This agreement applies to the City of Wrenford, the appointed construction contractor, and any subcontractors hired to complete the work. You and your neighbours will notice increased construction activity around Ambrel Lake Park during the building phase.

Fines and compliance

There are no direct fines attached to this authorizing by-law. However, all construction work must follow the City's Site Alteration By-law and Noise By-law. If you are a contractor, you must follow quiet hours and protect public property. Violators may face penalties under those separate rules.

When it takes effect

The by-law came into effect immediately after it was passed by Council on May 12, 2025. The construction agreement itself will start once both parties sign the contract and all conditions are met.

What it amends or repeals

This by-law does not amend or repeal any existing City by-laws. It simply authorizes a specific project agreement under the City's existing capital works and property development framework.

A certified copy of this by-law is available for review at the City Clerk's Office during regular business hours. You can also view the full agenda and minutes for the May 12, 2025 Council meeting to see how the vote was conducted.
