By-law 2016-122: Noise By-law
This by-law sets limits on noise in Wrenford so everyone can enjoy a comfortable environment. It applies to all residents, businesses, and visitors across the city. The rules cover vehicle exhaust and revving, construction and power tools, parties and loud music, and barking dogs.
Quiet hours run from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily. During these hours, you must keep your volume down so people can talk normally and hear transit announcements. Amplifiers are not allowed in parks, gardens, or inside the Downtown Transit Terminal. Construction and power tool work is allowed Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and statutory holidays are completely quiet.
If a neighbour's dog is barking constantly, try speaking to them directly first. If the problem continues, you can report it to the City. You may need a noise exemption permit for special events or construction that goes outside the normal hours. Public performances must follow this by-law and must not include high-risk acts like knives or fire for public safety.
Violations come with fines. A first offence carries a $100.00 fine. A second offence within a set period carries a $250.00 fine. By-law enforcement officers can issue tickets under this by-law or the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. You can appeal a by-law decision by visiting the Appeal a decision page.
This by-law took effect on October 1, 2016, and replaced the older noise regulations. A certified copy is available from the Clerk's office at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1, or by calling 519-555-0100.
