By-law 2022-072: Signage By-law
Purpose
By-law 2022-072, the Signage By-law, works alongside the Sign By-law 2020-088 to manage how signs are placed and displayed across Wrenford. Together, these rules keep our streets safe, reduce visual clutter, and help local businesses reach customers without blocking sightlines or creating hazards.
What it covers
This by-law sets out the rules for sign size, placement, and lighting in different zones. It covers permanent signs for businesses, community groups, and residential properties, as well as temporary signs for sales and community events. The by-law also explains how to apply for a permit and what happens if a sign does not follow the standards.
Who it applies to
These rules apply to all property owners, business operators, and community groups within city limits. If you plan to put up a sign, you must follow the guidelines and get the right permit first. Signs placed without approval will be removed by the City. We will not charge you to pick them up, but repeated violations may result in a fine under this by-law.
When it takes effect
Council passed this by-law on May 24, 2022. It took effect immediately after the final reading and is now fully in force. It does not amend or repeal previous by-laws; it stands as a separate framework alongside the Sign By-law 2020-088.
