By-law 2014-075: Traffic and Parking By-law
What this by-law covers
By-law 2014-075 is the main rulebook for moving around and parking on City streets. It sets out the driving rules, parking limits, bus lanes, and how to get a patio permit for a local business. Whether you are driving a car, riding a bike, or walking, this by-law keeps our roads safe and clear.
Who it applies to
This by-law applies to everyone who uses Wrenford’s streets, sidewalks, and curb lanes. It covers residents, visitors, delivery drivers, and transit users alike.
Key rules
Under this by-law, you must follow posted signs and road markings at all times. The City designates specific areas for on-street parking, loading zones, and bus stops. If you run a café or shop, you can apply for a patio permit to use the curb lane for outdoor seating. All patios must follow the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 and the City's Roads & Winter Maintenance rules. When you ride a bicycle, always park it in a designated rack. Leaving a bicycle unattended for more than two hours at trailheads is not allowed. Blocking sidewalks, driveways, or accessibility ramps is a violation of the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 and can result in a fine. The City does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen bicycles.
Fines and enforcement
If you break the rules in this by-law, you may receive a ticket under the Provincial Offences Act. Fines vary depending on the violation, such as parking in a restricted zone or blocking a fire lane. By-law enforcement officers and the Wrenford Police Service enforce these rules daily.
When it took effect and changes
Council passed By-law 2014-075 on May 26, 2014. It replaces older, patchwork parking rules and brings them under one clear document. The City may update this by-law from time to time to address new traffic patterns or special events, so always check the latest version online.
