By-law 2017-095: Transit System By-law
By-law 2017-095, the Transit System By-law, sets the rules for using Wrenford Transit. It covers how to ride our buses, use shelters, and visit the Downtown Transit Terminal. The by-law makes sure the system stays safe and runs smoothly for everyone.
What the by-law covers
- Fare payment and how to use passes or tickets.
- Rules for passengers, including keeping seats and aisles clear.
- Safety standards for riders and transit staff.
- Prohibited behaviour on buses and at terminals.
- Enforcement powers for transit peace officers.
Who it applies to
This by-law applies to all passengers, transit employees, and anyone using Wrenford Transit services or facilities.
Fines and penalties
If you do not pay the correct fare, you may receive a ticket. The standard fine for fare evasion is $250.00. You have five business days to pay or appeal a ticket through the Provincial Offences Court. Repeated offences can lead to higher fines or being banned from the transit system.
When it takes effect
Council passed this by-law on July 10, 2017. It came into force immediately unless otherwise noted in the official text.
Amendments and history
This by-law replaced older transit rules and brought them up to date with current provincial laws. Later by-laws have made small updates to fares and schedules, but the core rules remain the same.
