By-law 2019-113: Clean Yards By-law

Purpose

This by-law sets the rules for how you dispose of grass, leaves, and other yard waste in Wrenford. It also covers fire safety for outdoor heating sources to keep our neighbourhoods tidy and safe.

What it does

You must collect yard waste in approved paper bags or leave it loose on the curb for biweekly collection from April through November. Do not put soil, rocks, construction debris, plastic bags, compostable liners, large tree branches, stumps, or food scraps in your yard waste. Food scraps belong in your Green Bin. Large branches must be dropped off at a City depot or mulched on your property.

During the winter cleanup period, the City accepts green waste free of charge at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility and the Northgate Drop-off Depot. Leaving a barbecue or fire pit burning unattended is a safety hazard. Report it to 311 or 519-555-0100. By-law Officers and Park Rangers are available to answer questions about fire safety and waste rules.

Who it applies to

Fines

Violations are dealt with under the Provincial Offences Act. Fines and penalties are set out in the City's fee schedule. Contact City Services or visit Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151 for current amounts.
