What you can appeal
You may appeal a variety of municipal decisions in Wrenford, including zoning and planning, property standards, parking tickets, and utility bills. The process and deadline depend on the type of decision you are contesting. Below is a guide to the most common appeals.
Planning and zoning
If you disagree with a decision under the Municipal Act, 2001, the Planning Act or Zoning By-law 2016-040, you can appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal. You must file your notice of appeal within 20 days of receiving the decision. You can also apply to the Committee of Adjustment for a minor variance to the zoning by-law. The Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month to hear applications.
Property standards and by-laws
If you receive a notice under the Property Standards By-law or a violation notice, you have 20 days to appeal to the City Clerk. A hearing will be scheduled, and you will receive a letter with the date, time, and location. You have the right to present evidence and speak at the hearing.
Parking and traffic
If you disagree with a parking ticket or a Highway Traffic Act fine, you can request a review at the Provincial Offences Court. You must submit your request in person or by mail before the deadline listed on your ticket.
Utility billing
If you believe your water or waste bill is incorrect, you can request a billing review. You must submit your request within 60 days of the billing period. Our utility staff will review your account and contact you with the outcome.
