By-law 2025-007: A by-law to amend Zoning By-law 2016-040 (permitting electric vehicle charging infrastructure at the Civic Operations Centre)
This by-law updates the Zoning By-law 2016-040 to allow electric vehicle charging stations at the Civic Operations Centre. The City wants to cut greenhouse gas emissions and meet its climate targets. You will be able to charge your electric vehicle in the lot at 455 Railside Road. The City will also set up chargers for its own fleet vehicles. This change makes the site a designated use for charging infrastructure. It does not create new fines or penalties. The by-law came into effect on January 27, 2025, the day Council passed it. It amends Zoning By-law 2016-040. A certified copy is available from the Clerk's office at City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or by contacting City Services.
By allowing these chargers, the City is making it easier for residents and staff to switch to cleaner transportation. You can use the public chargers at your own pace. The City will post the exact rates and hours on the site signage when the project is complete. This update supports the City's goal of reducing emissions from municipal operations and private vehicles alike. If you have questions about the new site use, contact City Services.
