By-law 2025-053: A by-law to amend Zoning By-law 2016-040 (Zoning Amendment - 120 Benchlands Drive)
By-law 2025-053 was passed by City Council on April 28, 2025, at the April 28, 2025 council meeting. This by-law updates the City of Wrenford Zoning By-law 2016-040 to support the Benchlands Lookout Park capital improvement project.
What the by-law does
It changes the zoning map and the accompanying text to allow for the installation of accessible seating and shade structures within the park boundary. These upgrades are part of the City's ongoing effort to make public spaces more comfortable and fully accessible for all visitors.
Who it applies to
This by-law applies to the land located at Benchlands Lookout Park, specifically the area surrounding the park's main festival grounds and viewing area. Any future development or changes to park facilities in this zone must follow the updated zoning rules.
Fines and penalties
As this is a zoning map and text amendment for a City capital project, there are no direct fines for residents. However, any future private development on the site that does not comply with the updated zoning provisions could result in enforcement action under the Zoning By-law, which may include fines of up to $50,000.00 for a first offence.
When it takes effect
The by-law takes effect upon passage, on April 28, 2025. The capital improvement work is scheduled to begin later this year.
Amendments
This by-law amends the zoning map and text of Zoning By-law 2016-040. It does not repeal any previous by-laws. You can review a certified copy of the by-law at the Clerk's Office at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or call the City at 519-555-0100.
