By-law 2025-074: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (speed limit on Northgate Boulevard)

Purpose

This by-law changes the posted speed limit on Northgate Boulevard to make the road safer for you and your neighbours when walking or cycling. The new limit applies to the section between Eastfield Road and Wrenford Line, right next to the Northgate Aquatic Centre.

What it does

It amends the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to lower the maximum speed from 60 km/h to 50 km/h. This change gives drivers more time to react and helps keep pedestrians safe near the aquatic centre entrance and crosswalks.

Who it applies to

This rule applies to every driver using Northgate Boulevard between Eastfield Road and Wrenford Line. It does not change rules for other streets in Wrenford.

Fines and enforcement

Drivers who go over the new 50 km/h limit can be fined under the Highway Traffic Act and the Traffic and Parking By-law. By-law Enforcement Officers and the Wrenford Police Service will enforce the new limit. Fines start at $150.00 for a first offence, plus a three-point demerit on your driving record.

When it takes effect

The by-law took effect the day Council passed it, on May 26, 2025. New speed limit signs will be installed along the affected stretch over the next few weeks.

What it amends

This by-law amends Schedule A of the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to update the posted speed limit table for Northgate Boulevard. No by-laws are repealed.
