By-law 2025-152: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (parking rates)
This by-law updates the hourly parking rates for on-street parking in the downtown core and the Market Square Parking Garage. The changes take effect on November 1, 2025.
What is changing?
The by-law amends the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to adjust the fees for parking meters and pay stations. The new rates apply to all hourly parking spots in the designated downtown area. Short-term parking rates and daily maximums may also be adjusted to encourage turnover and manage demand during busy periods.
Who does this affect?
Anyone who parks on downtown streets or uses the Market Square Parking Garage will see updated fees. Residential parking permits are not affected by this by-law. Shoppers and visitors are encouraged to check the updated rates before parking.
Fines and payment
Parking enforcement officers monitor these areas. If you do not pay the correct rate, you may receive a parking ticket. Fines for unpaid parking are handled through the Provincial Offences Court. You can pay a ticket online, by mail, or in person at City Hall. Pay stations are located at most downtown parking spots.
Revenue use
Revenue from parking fees helps fund road maintenance, transit services, and winter maintenance across the city.
