By-law 2026-051: Graffiti and Vandalism By-law
Purpose
You want your neighbourhood to look clean and feel safe. The Graffiti and Vandalism By-law 2026-051 helps make that happen. It makes it an offence to put graffiti on public or private property, and it says you must remove it.
What it does
Graffiti means any words, drawings, or stickers put on walls, fences, transit shelters, utility boxes, or private buildings without permission. This by-law covers all of it. It also covers vandalism that damages property.
If you see graffiti, please tell us. You can report it through Wrenford 311 or by calling 519-555-0100. If the graffiti is on your own building or land, you are responsible for cleaning it up. The City can step in to clean public property, but we prefer you report it so we can act fast.
Need help paying for the cleanup? The Clean Canvas Program gives money back to private property owners who remove graffiti from their buildings. Visit the Graffiti bylaws and removal page to see how to apply.
Who it applies to
This rule applies to everyone in Wrenford. It covers residents, business owners, and visitors. It also places a duty on property owners to keep their buildings and yards free of unauthorised markings.
Fines
If you break this rule, you could face a fine. By-law Enforcement Officers can issue tickets or lay charges under the Provincial Offences Act, 1990. The court decides the exact amount based on the offence and whether it is a repeat violation.
When it takes effect
Council passed this by-law on April 13, 2026, at the April 13, 2026 council meeting. It takes effect right away.
