By-laws passed in 2026

By-law 2026-055 amends the city's election rules to officially adopt new ward boundaries that will take effect for the 2027 municipal election cycle.

By-law 2026-055: A by-law to amend Municipal Elections By-law 2026-099 (Ward Boundaries)

By-law 2026-055 officially updates the ward boundaries for the City of Wrenford. Passed by Council on April 13, 2026, during the regular Council meeting, this by-law changes how the city is divided for electoral purposes. The new boundaries reflect the recommendations from the 2026 ward boundary review, which examined population shifts and neighbourhood growth across the city.

What this by-law does

The by-law amends the Municipal Elections By-law 2026-099. It replaces the map of the six electoral wards with updated lines that will stay in place for the next municipal election. The changes ensure each councillor represents roughly the same number of residents, keeping the electoral system fair and balanced under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Who it applies to

These boundaries apply to all Wrenford residents when they vote for a local councillor. They also apply to candidates running in any ward. If you live in a neighbourhood that crossed a boundary line, you will vote for the councillor in the new ward you now live in. You can view the updated map on the Ward boundary review page.

When it takes effect

The updated boundaries take effect on January 1, 2027. You will use the new ward lines when you vote in the 2027 municipal election. Voting places and polling hours will follow the new boundaries, so check the Elections page for your updated location.

Fines and penalties

This by-law does not set any new fines or fees. It simply updates the electoral map. If you have questions about how the changes affect your voting location, contact the Elections office or visit Wrenford City Hall.

What it amends

By-law 2026-055 amends the Municipal Elections By-law 2026-099. It does not repeal any existing election rules; it only updates the ward map and the sections of the by-law that describe each ward's boundaries.

A certified copy of this by-law is available at the Clerk's office at City Hall, or you can view it through the Find a by-law portal.
