By-law 2026-154: A by-law to amend Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151 (development charges)

By-law 2026-154 updates the development charges that developers pay when they build new homes, businesses, or industrial sites in Wrenford. The main goal is to collect the money needed to fund housing projects and build community amenities like parks, transit stops, and water systems. These updates follow the 2027 budget guidelines that council approved earlier this year, in line with the Planning Act and the Municipal Act, 2001.

If you are a developer or a property owner applying for a new building permit or a subdivision plan, you will need to pay these updated fees. The by-law adjusts the rates for single-family homes, multi-unit buildings, and commercial properties. It also sets aside funds in the development charge reserve to cover future infrastructure costs.

The by-law does not include new fines or penalties. However, unpaid development charges will accrue interest at the provincial rate until the balance is cleared. This by-law officially amends the Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151. It takes effect on November 1, 2026.

A certified copy of the by-law is available for review at the Clerk's office, located on the ground floor of Wrenford City Hall at 100 Mercer Street. You can also view the full text through the By-laws page on our website.
