By-law 2026-041: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (speed limit on Ambrel Lake Road)
What this by-law does
City Council passed By-law 2026-041 on March 23, 2026, to update Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. The change sets a 40 km/h speed limit on Ambrel Lake Road, specifically between Concession 4 Road and Northgate Boulevard. This section of the road runs right next to the Northgate Aquatic Centre, where families, cyclists, and pedestrians cross frequently. The lower speed limit is designed to give drivers more time to react and keep people safe near the pool.
Who it applies to
The new speed limit applies to all vehicles driving on Ambrel Lake Road between the two named streets. This includes cars, trucks, delivery vehicles, and motorcycles. The rule is in effect at all times, day and night, unless otherwise posted.
How to pay a fine
If you are caught driving over the limit in this zone, you will receive a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act. The fine is set by the provincial schedule for speeding offences. You can pay your ticket at Provincial Offences Court or online through the provincial payment portal. If you disagree with the ticket, you can request a trial date within 15 days.
When it takes effect
The by-law came into force on March 23, 2026, the day Council approved it. We have updated road signs and pavement markings to reflect the new limit. You can expect to see the 40 km/h signs posted at both ends of the corridor by the end of April.
Amendments and copies
This by-law amends Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. It does not change any other parking or traffic rules in the city. A certified copy of the full by-law is available from the Clerk's office at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or you can view it through the Online By-law Search Portal.
