By-law 2026-076: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (parking restrictions on Ambrel Lake Road)
About this by-law
On May 25, 2026, Council passed By-law 2026-076 to make changes to the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. This by-law puts in place temporary parking restrictions along Ambrel Lake Road. The goal is to give road crews enough space to fix the pavement and improve drainage at Ambrel Lake Park.
What the by-law does
Starting the day after Council approved the by-law, you will not be able to park on either side of Ambrel Lake Road between the park entrance and the north gate. The restrictions will stay in place until the paving and drainage repairs are finished. You can expect the work to take about three weeks, depending on the weather. Signage will be posted two weeks before the work starts so you have time to make other plans.
Who it applies to
This rule applies to all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles. It affects residents and visitors who normally use the road for parking. If you live on the affected section of the road, you will need to use your driveway or a nearby street. There are no exceptions for delivery vehicles or emergency services, as the road will be fully closed to through traffic during active work hours.
Fines and penalties
If you park in the restricted area during the work period, your vehicle may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense. The fine for parking in a restricted zone is $75.00 under the existing Traffic and Parking By-law. Towing costs will be added to the bill. Please check the posted signs for the exact dates and times.
When it takes effect and what it amends
The by-law takes effect immediately upon being passed by Council on May 25, 2026. It amends Schedule A of the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to add a temporary no-parking zone. It does not repeal any existing rules. Once the road work is complete, the temporary restrictions will be lifted and the road will return to its normal parking rules.
