By-law 2026-098: Short-term Rental Business Licensing By-law
This by-law establishes a mandatory licensing program for short-term rental businesses operating in Wrenford. It sets out who must register, what information you need to provide, and how to keep your rental safe and compliant.
Anyone offering a property or a portion of a property for rent for fewer than thirty consecutive days must apply for a licence. You will need to provide proof of ownership or a landlord's consent letter, a floor plan of the rental area, and emergency contact details for your guests. You must also display your licence number on all online rental listings and keep a copy on site during guest stays.
The licensing program takes effect on January 1, 2027. This gives you enough time to gather your paperwork and submit your application before the new year. You will need to renew your licence every year. To help you prepare, visit the One-Stop Development Shop at Room 200, Wrenford City Hall, or email the Business Licences team at [email protected].
Operating without a valid licence or failing to follow the rules is a provincial offence. You could face a fine of $500.00 for a first offence and $1,000.00 for a second offence. This by-law amends Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151 to add the annual registration fee. A certified copy of the by-law is available from the Clerk's office at City Hall or on our By-laws page.
