By-law 2026-083: A by-law to amend Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151 (waste management fees)
This by-law updates the fees and charges for waste collection in the City of Wrenford. Its main goal is to pay for longer drop-off hours at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility during the summer months. When waste collection volumes rise in the warmer months, residents need more time to dispose of yard waste, household items, and other materials. This adjustment makes sure the facility can stay open later without cutting services on other days.
The by-law amends Schedule A of the Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151. It raises the seasonal surcharge for single-family residential waste collection and adjusts the fees for multi-unit buildings and commercial properties. The new rates apply to property owners and tenants across all six wards. If you pay your property tax through a pre-authorized plan, the City will add the extra fee to your next interim or final tax bill.
You do not need to take any action to pay this fee. The charges are automatic and will appear on your upcoming waste bill or tax statement. The updated fees take effect on July 1, 2026, and remain in place until the next annual budget cycle. The City will review the rates again in the fall to see if they match the actual cost of running the extended hours.
There are no fines attached to this by-law. It simply changes how much you pay for waste collection during the summer season. Under the Municipal Act, 2001, the City has the authority to set user fees for services it provides. If you believe the fee does not apply to your property, or if you have a question about your bill, you can contact the Revenue and Water Billing Supervisor, Hiroshi Tanaka, at 519-555-0100.
