By-law 2026-103: A by-law to authorize an agreement with the Director of Public Works for the Canada Day in the Park event
What this by-law does
This by-law authorizes the Director of Public Works to provide municipal services and infrastructure support for the Canada Day in the Park celebration. It allows the City to cover the costs of setting up the event at Centennial Gardens, including stage construction, waste management, traffic control, and park restoration.
Who it applies to
This by-law applies to City staff in the Public Works department and the departments that provide support services, such as By-law Enforcement and Fire Rescue. It also covers the organizations and volunteers helping to run the Canada Day in the Park event on July 1.
Fines and penalties
This by-law does not create new fines or penalties. However, all event participants and vendors must follow existing City rules, including the Noise By-law and the Traffic and Parking By-law. Any violations of those existing rules are still subject to standard municipal fines.
When it takes effect
This by-law takes effect on the day it is passed, July 13, 2026, and remains in force until the City has completed all required services and restored Centennial Gardens to its normal condition after the event.
Amendments and repeals
This by-law does not amend or repeal any existing by-laws. It works alongside the Park and Facility Use By-law 2025-162 and the Procedure By-law 2023-018 to authorize the necessary municipal expenditure and service delivery.
