By-laws passed in 2026

Administers grants and tax exemptions to create shovel-ready industrial land and grow the non-residential assessment base.

By-law 2026-078: Industrial Incentives By-law

Purpose

This by-law supports the City's economic growth by making more industrial land available for development. It creates a programme to help businesses and developers prepare sites for construction.

What it does

The by-law establishes two main supports for eligible projects:

  • Tax exemption: A reduction in property taxes for new industrial buildings or major expansions.
  • Site preparation grant: Financial assistance to cover costs like grading, utilities, and infrastructure work needed to make a site shovel-ready.

These tools are designed to grow the non-residential assessment base and encourage investment in our industrial zones.

Who it applies to

You can apply if your project is located in a designated industrial area and meets the eligibility criteria set out in the by-law. The programme is open to developers, business owners, and industrial operators looking to expand or build new facilities.

Fines and appeals

If you believe the City has made an error in your application, you have thirty days to file an appeal with the Wrenford Tax Incentive Appeal Board. The City Clerk's office handles all appeal filings. You can find more details in the appeal section of the by-law.

When it takes effect

This by-law was passed by Council on June 8, 2026, and takes effect immediately upon adoption.

This by-law works alongside other economic development tools. You can combine this incentive with other City grants and programmes. Check the Business section for more information on how to apply.
