Access and privacy at the City of Wrenford

The City of Wrenford is committed to protecting your personal information and providing transparent access to public records under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). This page gives you the contact details and next steps for making requests or raising concerns.

Who handles your request

The City Clerk’s Office acts as the City’s designated access and privacy office. Staff in this office manage all requests under MFIPPA, including access to information, privacy complaints, and corrections to personal records. If you need help filling out a form or understanding your rights, this is the right place to start.

What we can help you with

  • Access to information requests: Ask for copies of City records, reports, or meeting materials that are not already public. You can request general information about how the City operates or specific documents.
  • Privacy complaints: Tell us if you believe your personal information was collected, used, or shared without your permission, or if you think the City is not following privacy rules.
  • Corrections to personal information: Ask us to fix mistakes in the personal data the City holds about you, such as your mailing address, phone number, or email.

What to include in your request

To help us process your request quickly, please provide the following details when you contact us:

  • Your full name and a way for us to reach you (phone number or email)
  • A clear description of the records or information you are looking for, or what correction you need
  • The dates or time period the information covers, if known
  • Any relevant request numbers or names of staff you have spoken with previously

How we handle your request

We aim to acknowledge your request within two business days. Under MFIPPA, we have 30 business days to respond. If your request is complex or requires searching through many files, we will let you know if we need more time. If there are fees involved, we will tell you the estimated cost before we start working on your request.
