By-law 2024-145: 2025 Fees and Charges By-law sets the costs for using city services throughout the 2025 fiscal year. Council passed this by-law on October 28, 2024, during the regular October council session.
What the by-law covers
This by-law lists the fees you will pay for a wide range of municipal services. It includes updated water and wastewater rates for residential and commercial accounts. It also adjusts the charges for garbage and recycling collection, as well as green bin organics pickup. If you need a building permit, a business licence, or a park facility rental, the fees for those services are listed here too.
Who it applies to
These fees apply to all property owners, residents, and businesses operating within the City of Wrenford. If you use city water, generate waste, or rent a city facility, your account will be adjusted according to these rates.
When it takes effect
The updated fees take effect on January 1, 2025. Water bills are issued every two months, so you will see the new rates on your next billing cycle after the new year begins. Waste collection fees are added to your property tax bill.
Non-payment and penalties
If you do not pay your fees on time, late payment penalties will be added to your account. For water and waste services, unpaid balances can be added to your property tax bill and collected through the same enforcement process used for municipal taxes. For other services, such as park rentals or permits, the City may deny future bookings or issue a fine under the Procedure By-law.
What changes
This by-law updates the fee schedule from the previous year to account for inflation, increased operational costs, and planned service improvements. It does not repeal the main Fees and Charges By-law; rather, it serves as the annual schedule that works alongside it.
