By-law 2024-041: 2024 Tax Levy By-law
On March 25, 2024, Wrenford City Council approved By-law 2024-041 at its regular meeting at City Hall. This by-law establishes the property tax rates needed to fund the approved operating budget for the year ahead.
Property taxes are how we pay for essential services like garbage and recycling collection, road maintenance, public transit, parks, fire and police services, and community programs. The rates in this by-law balance the need to keep these services running smoothly with the goal of keeping costs affordable for residents and businesses across all six wards.
This by-law applies to every property owner in the City of Wrenford. It does not change the way your bill is calculated, but it establishes the final dollar amounts per thousand dollars of assessed value that will appear on your 2024 interim and final tax bills. If you pay by pre-authorized monthly plan, the amount you pay each month will be based on these rates. This by-law does not set fines; standard collection procedures under the Municipal Act, 2001 apply to unpaid balances.
The by-law took effect immediately upon its third reading and passage on March 25, 2024. It does not amend or repeal any previous tax levy by-laws; it simply establishes the current year's rates. A certified copy of the by-law is available for review at the City Clerk's office at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street.
