By-law 2024-002: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (downtown parking rates)
This by-law updates the fees for on-street parking and off-street garage permits in the downtown core. The changes take effect on February 1, 2024.
What changes
The by-law adjusts hourly parking rates in high-demand zones around Market Square and along Mercer and Tamsin Streets. Short-term parking now costs $2.00 per hour, with a maximum stay of two hours. Monthly garage permits for residents and downtown businesses are set at $20.00. These rates are reviewed annually under the Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151.
Who it applies to
These rates apply to all drivers using City-owned parking spaces in the downtown grid, including Mercer, Tamsin, Water, Church, and Albert Streets. Permits are available through the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall.
Fines
If you park without paying or exceed your time limit, you may receive a provincial offence ticket. Fines for expired meters or overstaying start at $160.00.
What it amends
This by-law amends Schedule A of the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to reflect the new fee structure. A certified copy of the by-law is available for review at the Clerk's Office, Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or by calling 519-555-0100.
