Inclusive and adapted programs

Learn about Wrenford's adapted recreation programs, inclusion support services, and fee assistance for residents with additional needs.

Our commitment to inclusion

Wrenford believes everyone deserves a chance to play, learn, and connect. Our recreation programs are designed so that all residents can participate at a level that matches their abilities. If you need extra help or a program needs to be adjusted, we are here to work with you.

Adapted recreation programs

Adapted programs are regular classes that have been changed to fit your needs. Changes might include smaller group sizes, modified equipment, extra staff support, or adjustments to the rules. You can find adapted options across our facilities, including:

These programs are listed in the online registration system. If you do not see an adapted option listed, contact us. We can often create a spot for you or advise on the best fit.

Inclusion Support Service

Some individuals need extra help to register, travel to programs, or take part in activities. Our Inclusion Support Service provides free support to make participation easier. Services may include:

We also offer a Leisure Companion. A Leisure Companion stays with you during a program to help with communication, movement, or general participation. Note that we cannot guarantee a companion will be available for every requested time slot, and we do not provide physical lifting, personal care, or behavioural intervention.

How to get involved

To start using the Inclusion Support Service, please follow these steps:

  1. Get in touch. Email [email protected] or call 519-555-0100.
  2. Complete a Getting to Know You form. You can fill this out online or pick up a copy at any major recreation facility.
  3. Submit your request. If you have a specific program in mind, please apply at least three weeks before the start date. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

If you need help filling out forms, call us and we will guide you through it.

Attendant Admission Program

If you require a support worker or attendant to help you participate in a recreation program, their admission is free. You must bring your own support worker. To register your attendant, please email [email protected] to request the Attendant Admission Application.

We also accept Access 2 cards. Present your card at any cashier desk, and your attendant will gain free entry without a separate application.

Fee assistance

Recreation programs can be expensive. The Recreation Fee Assistance program helps cover registration costs for eligible Wrenford residents. You can apply for a discount on adapted programs, day camps, and general recreation activities. Visit the fee assistance page for income guidelines and application forms.

Find a facility

All our recreation centres and arenas are being made more accessible over time. Check facility pages for details on parking, entrances, and washroom access.
