About the program
The Recreation Fee Assistance program helps eligible Wrenford residents cover the cost of City recreation programs, day camps, drop-in activities, and facility fees. If you are facing financial challenges, this program can reduce or waive registration fees, day camp costs, and access fees for City-operated facilities like the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre, and Larch Heights Golf Course.

Who can apply
You may automatically qualify if you are a Wrenford resident and receive one of the following:
- Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
- Ontario Works
- Guaranteed Income Support (GIS)
- Refugee status
If you do not receive one of these benefits, you can still apply using your most recent Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Notice of Assessment. Your household income will be compared to the low-income cut-off (LICO) to determine eligibility.
How much assistance you can get
Eligible applicants receive an annual subsidy of up to $300.00 per person. This subsidy can be applied to:
- Group programs and lessons
- Day camps (spring/summer and winter)
- Drop-in fitness and public swims
- Golf course greens fees at Larch Heights Golf Course
- Arena ice time rentals for community groups
How to apply
You can apply online or in person. Applications are processed within five business days.
- Online: Visit the Programs page and click the "Apply for Fee Assistance" link. You will need your CRA Notice of Assessment or proof of benefits.
- In person: Bring your government-issued ID, proof of Wrenford address, and your eligibility documentation to the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall (100 Mercer Street) or the front desk at Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre (400 Benchlands Drive).
Registration deadlines
Registration for our programs happens three times a year. Fall registration opens the last Monday of August, winter registration opens the first Monday of December, and spring and summer registration opens the first Monday of March. You can apply for fee assistance at any time, but your subsidy must be approved before you register to avoid paying full price.
Partner organizations
The Recreation Fee Assistance program also works with local partner groups. If you receive your subsidy through a partner agency, contact that agency directly for registration codes. You can find a list of community partners on the Community page.
Using your subsidy
Once approved, you will receive a unique code via email. Present this code when you register for programs or check in at a facility. The subsidy renews automatically each January, but you must reapply or confirm your income status before December 15 to avoid a lapse in coverage.
Important notes
This program is subject to available funding. Applications are processed in the order they are received. If your application is approved, your subsidy will be applied to your account automatically for the remainder of the calendar year. You only need to reapply when the new calendar year begins.
