You can learn how to register for a delegation on the Request to speak at council page.

Reports and decisions

The Committee reviewed four minor variance applications and one consent request under the Planning Act. Minor variances allow small changes to zoning rules when a strict application would cause unnecessary hardship.

  • 42 Mercer Street: An application to vary the side-yard setback for a laneway garage was discussed. The Committee found the request would not negatively impact the neighbour's privacy or sunlight. Carried 4–1.
  • 15 Tamsin Street: A request to reduce the rear-yard setback for a deck extension was reviewed. Staff confirmed it meets the official plan guidelines for heritage areas. Carried unanimously.
  • 88 Mill Street: An application for consent to create a freehold condominium plan was presented. The Committee approved the request, subject to a condition that the building's heritage features are preserved. Carried unanimously.
  • 12 Corvid Way: A variance application regarding the height of a detached accessory building was debated. Several members noted concerns about the neighbourhood character and visual bulk. Defeated 3–2.

You can appeal these decisions to the Ontario Land Tribunal if you wish. Council reviews the Committee's recommendations before making a final decision on zoning changes.

By-laws

No by-laws were passed. The Committee only makes recommendations; Council must pass any by-laws to formalize development agreements. You can view past by-laws on the By-laws page.

Adjournment

The meeting concluded at 7:45 p.m. This meeting was not livestreamed. You can view the official minutes on the Committee of Adjustment page once they are approved.
