Register to speak

To speak at a council or committee meeting, you must register in advance. Use the Public Submission form to sign up. The form stays open until 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the meeting. You can register to speak at regular council meetings or at any committee meeting, such as Planning and Environment or Council committees.

How long can I speak?

Each speaker gets three minutes to present their point. If several people are speaking on the same topic, the time will be divided among them. Please keep your remarks focused and respectful. The chair will ask you to stop when your time is up.

In-person and virtual options

You can speak in person at Council Chambers, Wrenford City Hall, or join virtually by phone or video link. If you choose the remote option on the registration form, the City Clerk's Office will email you the access details. Virtual speakers must join the call or meeting room at least ten minutes before the start time. If you have technical issues, please contact the Clerk's Office as soon as possible.

Submit written comments

If you do not plan to speak, you can still share your view. Send a written submission to the City Clerk's Office by 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the meeting. You can email it to [email protected], or mail it to 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1. Include your name, address, and contact information so we can add your comments to the public record.

What to expect on the day

Arrive early to find your seat. All visitors must pass through a security check before entering Council Chambers. Seating in the chamber is first come, first served for observers, but priority is given to registered speakers. Bring a photo ID for the security screening. The meeting usually starts at 6:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Accessibility and language needs

We want everyone to be able to participate. If you need an accommodation, such as a wheelchair space, large print materials, or an interpreter, please tell us when you register. Give us at least two weeks' notice so we can make arrangements. The City provides these services at no cost to you.

Tips for a strong presentation

Bring a printed copy of your remarks for the councillors and the City Clerk. You may use a brief slide deck or handouts, but you must submit digital presentation files to the Clerk at least 24 hours before the meeting. Paper handouts are welcome at the registration desk. Remember to address the council politely and stick to the topic at hand.
