Reports and Decisions
45 Mercer Street — The Committee reviewed an application for a minor variance to Zoning By-law 2016-040 to reduce the required front-yard setback for a new duplex. After hearing the developer's presentation and the Kingfisher resident's support, the Committee determined the setback reduction would not adversely affect the public interest. The motion was Carried 4-1.
12 Tamsin Street — An application was reviewed to create a legal secondary suite through a consent. The Planner confirmed that the existing structure meets the Ontario Building Code and fire safety requirements. The Committee found no objections to the subdivision of the single dwelling. The motion was Carried 5-0.
88 Mill Street — The Committee considered a minor variance request to exceed the maximum height limit for a heritage addition at this historic property. The Planner noted that the addition respects the original character of the grist mill era building. The motion was Carried 4-1.
142 Mercer Street — A resident from the Benchlands neighbourhood spoke against a proposed freestanding signage structure, citing visual clutter in the downtown core. The Committee weighed the economic benefits of the new business against the streetscape impact. The motion was Carried 3-2.
12 Mercer Street — The Committee reviewed a consent application to create a laneway house. Staff confirmed that the proposed structure meets parking and access requirements. The motion was Carried 4-1.
15 Corvid Way — An application for a minor variance to Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 to establish a commercial loading zone was reviewed. The Planner noted insufficient justification for restricting a public right-of-way. The motion was Defeated 5-0.
