Whether you are an older adult looking to stay connected or a family member helping a parent navigate daily life, the City of Wrenford offers free, confidential support to help you feel confident and independent. Our team works directly with you to find local programs, plan for changing needs, and stay involved in community life.
Book a Seniors Support Coordinator appointment
Our Seniors Support Coordinator is available to meet with you in person or over the phone. We help you:
- Find programs and services that match your interests and mobility needs
- Explore housing options and apply for support programs
- Connect with local transit, health services, and community groups
- Understand eligibility for provincial and federal benefits
Appointments are free and confidential. Call 519-555-0100 to book a time, or email [email protected]. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Help with forms and applications
Dealing with paperwork can be overwhelming. Our staff can sit down with you to help complete forms for:
- Wrenford Access specialized transit and accessible parking permits
- Ontario Works and health benefits
- Housing permits and rental assistance
- Seniors' rebates and property tax relief programs
- Home repair and accessibility funding
You can drop by the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall, or request a home visit if you have mobility challenges. Bring any mail or forms you need help with.
Wellness check-ins and community referrals
Feeling isolated can affect your health. We offer regular wellness check-ins to see how you are doing and to make sure you have what you need. If you are living alone or caring for a family member, we can connect you with:
- Tamsin Valley Public Health for immunizations and wellness checks
- The Wrenford Crisis Support Line for mental health and emotional support
- Local community centres and cultural groups for social events
- Fire Rescue for free home safety checks and smoke alarm testing
Volunteer as a Snow Angel
Heavy snow and ice can make it difficult for older adults to get outside safely. The City runs a volunteer Snow Angel program to help residents who cannot shovel their own walkways and driveways. If you enjoy staying active and want to give back, sign up to clear paths for seniors in your neighbourhood. All equipment is provided, and we offer a short orientation session each fall.
Find networking and advisory groups
Staying connected is key to healthy aging. You can join local seniors' associations, cultural networking groups, and the Older Persons Advisory Committee, which meets to share ideas with Council on how to make Wrenford more age-friendly. Check the event calendar for monthly meet-ups and social hours at recreation centres across the city.
