Recreation and fitness
Stay active with programs designed for older adults. The Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre features a dedicated older adults' lounge where you can meet neighbours, play games, and attend scheduled workshops. You can also join drop-in fitness classes at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre or the Northgate Aquatic Centre. Gentle movement and aquatic classes are available year-round.
Check the Programs page for full schedules and registration dates. If cost is a concern, apply for Recreation fee assistance to reduce your registration costs.
Transit and mobility
Getting around Wrenford is easier with dedicated senior transit supports. The Wrenford Senior Transit Grant offers a discounted monthly fare for riders aged 65 and over. For door-to-door service, register for Wrenford Access specialized transit. Bookings open seven days in advance and require a 15-minute pick-up window. Call 519-555-0114 or visit the Downtown Transit Terminal to apply.
Home and neighbourhood support
Keep your property safe through the winter. The City clears residential streets when snow reaches eight centimetres, but you are responsible for clearing your sidewalks and driveways. Failure to shovel can result in fines under the Snow clearing and sidewalk plowing winter maintenance by-law. If you need help shoveling, ask your neighbours or check local community boards for volunteer helpers.
Need help finding housing or navigating housing applications? Visit the Housing page for resources on affordable rentals and supportive living options. The City also offers Property tax payment options to help manage seasonal costs.
Community, health, and safety
Stay connected to local health and safety updates. Tamsin Valley Public Health runs seasonal immunization clinics and West Nile virus surveillance. During extreme weather, the City activates cooling and warming shelters; check Emergency Management alerts for openings.
Keep your social life and hobbies going with the Library. You can get a free digital card to access e-books, online learning, and monthly community workshops. The library also hosts Tech Help Sessions to keep you confident with smartphones and computers.
Join our new walking group
We are launching Silver Hikes, a weekly guided walking group for older adults. Trails on the Tamsin River Trail System are graded for accessibility, and trained volunteers lead the routes. The program costs $5.00 per session to cover trail maintenance and volunteer coordination. Call 519-555-0142 to sign up or ask questions.
