Property tax payment options

Property taxes help fund the City Services, schools, libraries, and public safety programmes that keep Wrenford running. Your property tax notice was mailed in late May 2026. Payments are due on the last business day of February, April, June, and September each year.

How to pay

  • Monthly: Join the Wrenford Tax Instalment Plan (WTIP) to pay month-by-month.
  • All at once: Pay your entire bill before the due date using any of the methods below.

Monthly instalments

The WTIP allows you to pay your property tax in 12 equal monthly payments. The City withdraws your payment from your bank account on the first business day of each month. You can enrol at any time. If you enrol mid-year, your first payment will be adjusted to cover the balance. To join, visit the Wrenford eProperty portal or call 519-555-0100.

Pay in full

Online banking, phone payments, and ATMs

Add Wrenford Property Tax as a payee. Use the 9-digit roll number from your tax bill as the account number. Do not include spaces or dashes. Check with your bank about processing times to ensure your payment clears before the deadline.

In-person at City Hall

Visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We accept cash, cheque, and debit. We do not accept credit cards directly.

24-hour drop box

Place cheques or money orders in the outdoor deposit box at the Water Street entrance of City Hall. Make cheques payable to "The City of Wrenford" and write your roll number on the memo line. Deposits must be made before midnight on the due date.

By mail

Send your cheque or money order with the signed remittance portion of your bill to:

The City of Wrenford (Tax Services) P.O. Box 1234, Station Main, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1

Regular mail payments are considered received on the date the City receives them. Courier deliveries are accepted at City Hall during business hours.

Through your mortgage

If your lender collects principal, interest, and taxes (PIT), they pay your taxes annually on your behalf. Your tax bill will show your mortgage company's name. If you do not see a lender listed but believe you are on a PIT plan, contact your bank immediately.

Credit card payments

The City does not accept credit cards directly. You can use a third-party payment provider online. These providers charge a transaction fee (currently $3.50 per transaction) which you pay. We do not endorse any specific provider, and delays caused by third parties will not waive late fees.

Helpful hints

  • Always double-check the roll number before paying. Every property has a unique number, and payments to the wrong account may incur a $25.00 administrative fee to correct.
  • Save all payment documentation, including receipts, bank statements, and mail stamps.
  • If you own multiple properties or a condominium, pay each roll number separately. Each titled space (living area, parking, storage) has its own roll number.

Frequently asked questions

Does the deadline apply if I bought a new property or filed an assessment appeal?

Yes. The new owner is responsible for paying the tax by the due date. If an appeal results in a lower assessment, the City will credit any overpayment to your account. You cannot delay payment while an appeal is pending.

Can I appeal my property tax?

You cannot appeal the tax amount itself. You can appeal the assessed value of your property during the Assessment Review period. Adjustments to the assessed value will change your tax amount. Pay the bill as issued to avoid penalties, and any refund will be applied later.

What if I make a payment to the wrong roll number?

A $25.00 administrative fee applies if City staff must manually correct a payment sent to an incorrect roll number. If we cannot redirect the payment, it will be returned to your financial institution.

Can I pay in U.S. dollars?

Yes, you can pay in U.S. funds from an American bank. The exchange rate on the deposit date applies. If bank fees or exchange rates leave a shortfall, a late penalty will apply to the unpaid balance.

What if I cannot pay my tax on time?

Accounts with outstanding balances after the due date are subject to a 2% monthly penalty rate. If your balance goes over 180 days, the City may register a tax lien. The City offers a Penalty Reduction Plan for customers in arrears who commit to a 24-month payment schedule.
