By-law 2023-161: A by-law to amend Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 (transit priority lanes on Tamsin Street)
Purpose
This by-law makes public transit faster and more reliable for you. Dedicated transit lanes on Tamsin Street keep buses moving during busy weekday hours. The changes also help the city ask the provincial government for transit funding.
Main provisions
The amendment updates the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. It adds clear parking rules along Tamsin Street to keep a lane open for buses during morning and evening rush hours. The City will put up new signs and paint road markings to show you where the transit lane is.
Who it applies to
This rule applies to you if you drive, ride a bike, or walk along Tamsin Street in Wrenford. It is especially important for commuters heading to the Downtown, Riverside Flats, and Benchlands neighbourhoods during peak transit times.
Fines
If you park in a designated transit lane during enforced hours, you may get a provincial offence notice. Fines start at $75.00 for a first offence and go up for repeat violations.
When it takes effect
By-law 2023-161 took effect on November 13, 2023, the day Council passed it. The City started installing signs and sharing information with the public right away so everyone knows about the new parking rules.
What it amends
This by-law amends the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. It adds new sections that list the exact locations of the transit lanes, the hours they are enforced, and the parking rules on Tamsin Street.
