The City of Wrenford broke ground on Monday, September 22, for the new north shore pathway at Ambrel Lake Park. Crews will begin clearing and grading the shoreline trail over the next few weeks, paving the way for a smoother, safer route for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
The new section is part of the Active Transportation Network Strategy, a long-term plan to link neighbourhoods, parks, and transit stops across the city. Once finished, the expansion will provide a direct link from Ambrel Lake Park to the wider Tamsin River Trail System, which already stretches 64 kilometres across Wrenford.
Construction will take place during regular working hours, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents living near the lake should expect some noise and occasional temporary lane shifts as crews lay the pathway base and install drainage. Work will follow the Stormwater By-law 2023-095 to protect local waterways and the Wildlife Feeding Prohibition By-law 2026-152 to keep local birds and animals safe.
"We are excited to finally start building this connection," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "This pathway will give families a safer place to walk and cycle right around the lake, and it fits perfectly into our city-wide trail network."
The City will post regular construction updates on the Service Alerts page. If you notice dust, debris, or a maintenance issue along the route, you can use our online reporting form or call City Services at 519-555-0100.
The pathway is expected to open to the public in late spring 2026. In the meantime, please stay on the existing marked trails to avoid disturbing the work area.
