Utility and waste account information

Learn how to open, close, or manage your water and waste accounts, view billing cycles, and find contact details for support.

About your utility and waste accounts

Your utility and waste accounts cover the water supply, wastewater treatment, garbage collection, Blue Box recycling, and Green Bin organics for your property. Keeping your account details up to date helps us deliver services smoothly and ensures your bills are accurate. You can manage everything online or visit us in person.

Opening a new account

You must open an account before you move in or start using city services. You can open a water or waste account online through Service Wrenford, or visit the service counter at Wrenford City Hall. Bring a copy of your lease or purchase agreement and a photo ID. Waste services start on the day you take possession, and water services begin the day we activate the meter. If you need a separate account for a secondary suite or rental unit, let us know when you apply.

Moving your services

When you move, you can transfer your existing account to the new address or open a fresh one. We recommend arranging this at least two business days before your move date so there is no interruption in service. You can also close your old account and open a new one in one step using the Move water, wastewater, and waste services form. Landlords should keep waste collection active using the Landlord Service Agreement so the property stays serviced between tenants.

Closing an account

Close your account when you move out or sell your property. For water accounts, we will schedule a final meter reading and send a closing bill. For waste accounts, we will confirm the final collection date and arrange for cart removal. You must clear all outstanding balances before the account is officially closed. If you are selling the property, you can use the Open or close waste service account page to start the process.

Billing cycles and payment options

Water bills are issued every two months. Waste collection services are billed quarterly based on the number of carts and properties. You can pay through pre-authorized debit, online banking, the Service Wrenford portal, or in person at City Hall or the Downtown Transit Terminal. If you are struggling to pay, contact us to discuss a payment arrangement. You can also learn more about reading your statements on the Understanding your water bill page.

Changing account details

Update your mailing address, phone number, or email through your online account profile, or call our billing team. If you need to change the name on an account, such as adding a spouse or transferring ownership, submit a Change property information request or visit City Hall with proof of the change. Changes usually take three business days to appear on your next bill.
