Open a new water account

Apply for new water service when moving into a Wrenford home or business. Learn about documents, fees, deposits, and how to submit your application.

Who needs a new water account

You will need to open a new account if you are moving into a home, apartment, or townhouse in Wrenford, or if you are starting a new business. A water account is tied to the property address, not your name. When you move in, the previous owner or tenant must close their account so you can start your own.

What you need to apply

To open an account, you will need to provide:

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • A signed lease agreement, deed, or purchase agreement
  • Proof of your current address (a utility bill or driver's licence)
  • Your previous water account number, if you have it

How to apply

You can open your account using any of the methods below. We recommend applying at least three business days before your move-in date to avoid any interruptions in service.

Online

Visit the Water Billing portal to create an account and submit your details. You can upload documents and pay any required fees securely.

In person

Visit the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. The counter is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bring your original documents.

By phone or mail

Call 519-555-0100 to start an account over the phone, or mail your completed application form and copies of your documents to:

Account setup fees and deposits

There is a one-time account setup fee of $25.00 for new connections. This covers the administrative cost of creating your profile in our system.

If you are a new resident with no prior credit history in Wrenford, we may require a security deposit of $150.00. This deposit is fully refundable when you close your account and provide a letter of good standing. You will not be asked for a deposit if you transfer an active account from another property under your name.

When service begins

If you apply online or by phone before 2:00 p.m. on a business day, your water service will typically begin the same day. If you apply in person after 2:00 p.m., service will start the next business day. We will send a confirmation email or letter once your account is active.
