Move water, wastewater, and waste services

Transfer your water, wastewater, garbage, and recycling services to your new Wrenford address quickly and easily.

Transfer your utility services when you move

If you are moving within the City of Wrenford, you can transfer your water, wastewater, garbage, and recycling services to your new address. You do not need to open a brand-new account or close your old one. Transferring your service is quick, and it keeps your history and any active payments intact. You can complete the transfer online or in person at City Hall.

What you need to have ready

  • Your current service address and the date you want service to stop
  • Your final water meter reading
  • The date you want service to start at your new address
  • The full address of your new home
  • Contact information for all account holders
  • Your current account number (found on your water bill)
  • Proof of ownership or a rental agreement for the new property

How to transfer your service

You can submit your transfer request through the Service Wrenford portal. This is the fastest way to get your transfer processed. If you do not have internet access, you can visit the Revenue and Water Billing office at City Hall to fill out a paper form. Our staff will walk you through the process.

When you submit your request, please include your final water meter reading. This helps us bill you accurately for the period you lived at your old address. You can find your meter inside your home, basement, or garage. Take a clear photo of the numbers and upload it with your form. If you cannot read the meter, our billing team will use a standard average for your final bill, but you will not be charged for water you did not use.

For garbage and recycling, you can keep your existing carts. If you are moving to a larger home that needs an extra green bin, you can request one during the transfer. If you are moving to a smaller home, you can return your extra cart at the time of transfer.

Fees and deposits

A standard administrative fee of $15.00 applies to every service transfer. This fee is added to your first bill at your new address. If you have an outstanding balance or a security deposit at your old address, it will be applied to your new account automatically. Please note that pre-authorized payment plans cannot be transferred between addresses. You will need to sign a new authorization form once your new account is active.

Important reminders

  • Submit your transfer request at least two business days before your move date to avoid service gaps.
  • If your new address does not yet have water or waste services, you will need to open a new account instead.
  • If you are renting, make sure the landlord or property manager opens an account for the property if it is currently under their name.
  • Service transfers are processed within one business day. You will receive a confirmation email once your new account number is ready.
  • Keep a copy of your transfer confirmation for your records.
