Find your collection day

Your garbage, recycling, and organics are picked up on a regular schedule. Single-family households receive three carts: a black cart for garbage, a blue cart for recyclables, and a green cart for organics. You can find your exact pickup days for the rest of the year by entering your address on the Garbage & Recycling page. You can also call Wrenford 311 at 519-555-0100 or visit your local City Services office.

Enter your address to look up your service day:

Collection frequency

  • Blue Box recycling: collected every week.
  • Green Bin organics: collected every week.
  • Garbage: collected every two weeks.

How to prepare your carts

Place your carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Leave at least one metre of space between each cart so the truck can reach them safely. Do not put bags on top of the recycling or organics. Keep lids closed and carts upright. If a cart is too full or heavy, leave it out on your next scheduled day.

What goes in each cart

Blue Box (recycling) Green Bin (organics) Black cart (garbage)
Newspaper, mailers, and junk mail Fruit and vegetable scraps Non-recyclable plastics and wrappers
Cardboard and paperboard (flattened) Meat, fish, and poultry scraps Diapers and hygiene products
Plastic bottles, jugs, and tubs Coffee grounds and tea bags Broken glass and ceramics
Metal cans and aluminum foil Eggshells and nut shells Plastic bags and film
Glass bottles and jars Small bones and seafood shells Tissues and paper towels

Yard waste is collected in brown paper bags. Paper bags are accepted biweekly from April through the end of November. During the first two weeks of January, your Christmas tree will be picked up curbside as well. For items that do not fit in a cart, such as large appliances or construction debris, visit the Bulky item pickup page or contact us.

Holiday and snow delays

Statutory holidays in Ontario may shift your collection day. If a holiday falls on your regular pickup day, collection moves to the next day. This one-day delay carries through the rest of that collection week only. Your regular schedule returns the following week.

In 2026, statutory holidays that may affect waste pickup include:

  • Family Day — February 16
  • Victoria Day — May 18
  • Canada Day — July 1
  • Civic Holiday — August 3
  • Labour Day — September 7
  • Thanksgiving Day — October 12

Heavy snow or ice can also delay collection. If your carts are buried under snow and the truck cannot reach them, your waste will be collected on your next scheduled day. If conditions are too hazardous for drivers, the City will post a Service Alert on our website. Check the alert page or call 311 before the scheduled pickup day.

Businesses and multi-unit buildings

If you operate a business or manage a multi-family dwelling, your collection schedule and cart sizes may differ from single-family homes. Please review the Business Licences page for commercial waste guidelines and rates.
