About council committees and boards
Council committees and local boards help the City make informed decisions. They review detailed reports, hear public input, and make recommendations to City Council. Council then votes on whether to approve or change those recommendations. Local boards and authorities operate at arm’s length from the City, meaning they make their own decisions while receiving City funding and oversight.
Standing committees
Standing committees meet regularly throughout the year. All meetings are open to the public and streamed online. You can attend in person at Council Chambers or join virtually.
- Planning and Environment Committee: Meets the first Tuesday of every month. Reviews land use planning, zoning, official plan amendments, and environmental protection bylaws.
- Policing Committee: Meets the third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Advises Council on the Wrenford Police Service budget, priorities, and community safety initiatives.
- Public Art Committee: Meets the first Thursday of every month at 4:00 p.m. Advises on the placement of public art and manages the City’s percentage-for-art program.
- Regional Collaboration Committee: Meets the second Friday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Coordinates with neighbouring municipalities on shared services like transit and waste management.

Local boards and authorities
These boards operate independently and make their own decisions. They are governed by their own boards, but the City provides funding and administrative support.
- Wrenford Police Service Board: Governs the Wrenford Police Service under Chief Andrea Holloway.
- Wrenford Public Library Board: Oversees the Wrenford Public Library and its branches.
- Tamsin Valley Conservation Authority: Issues floodplain and shoreline permits along the river and creeks.
- Tamsin Valley Public Health: Runs immunization, food premises inspection, and public health surveillance.
How to join
Wrenford welcomes residents to apply for council committees and local boards. Most appointments run for a two-year term with the option for one reappointment. Applications are reviewed by the City Manager’s office before Council makes the final appointments.
To apply, visit the Apply to serve on a committee page. The application deadline is the last Friday of January and July each year. If you have questions, email [email protected].
How to participate
You do not need to be a committee member to take part. All meetings are open to the public. You can watch them live on the City’s website or view past recordings at Access council meeting recordings. If you want to speak on an agenda item, you must register in advance using the Request to speak at council form. Written comments are also accepted and must be received at least two business days before the meeting.
For full meeting schedules, visit View council meeting schedules. Agendas and minutes for all committees are posted at View committee meeting agendas.
