The Wrenford Public Library has plenty of ways to help your children discover the joy of reading. Whether your child is just starting kindergarten or is a young adult looking for a new book, our branches have resources and programs to support them.

Programs and storytimes

Our librarians run weekly storytimes at the Main Branch, Northgate Branch, and Ambrel Lake Branch. These sessions feature games, crafts, and read-alouds designed for different age groups. If your child is starting kindergarten this fall, ask about our Ready for School program. We provide special activities to help little ones get comfortable with books and classroom routines. We also offer Welcome to Wrenford kits in several languages to help multilingual families practice English and French together.

Getting a library card

Library cards are free for all Wrenford residents. A card gives you access to physical books, digital games, and online learning tools. You can apply online through our digital library card application. Simply upload a photo of your identification to receive an instant digital card in your account. Children under 13 must apply with a parent or guardian, while teens 13 and older may apply on their own. Once you have a card, you can hold up to 10 items at a time, and holds are kept for seven days.

Reading resources and kits

We have several free resources to encourage reading at home.

  • Wrenford Readers' Kit: Pick up a keepsake tote for children entering kindergarten. Each bag contains helpful information, early literacy activities, and a selection of picture books.
  • Family Reading Kits: These take-home boxes include a themed collection of books, discussion guides, and activity sheets to help families read together.
  • Just for You lists: Looking for something that matches your child's interests? Our librarians have created reading lists for reluctant readers, graphic novel fans, and young scientists.

Classroom and group resources

Teachers and homeschooling families can borrow Classroom Resource Kits. These themed packages contain books and learning tools that can be kept for three weeks. Visit the main branch or email us to request a kit. We also host Community Reading Circles, where you can reserve a room at one of our branches for a weekly book club or study group. Teachers can book a class trip to visit the Main Branch reading room.
