Library policy list

The Wrenford Public Library Board sets the rules that guide how we run the library and serve you. These policies make sure our spaces, books, and digital resources stay safe and available for everyone. You can view our full policy list on our website or pick up a printed copy at any branch desk.

Borrowing and loans

Most adult items can be borrowed for three weeks. Youth materials have a two-week loan period. You can renew items online or by phone if no one else is waiting for them. Visit Get a library card for more details on your account.

Loan limits

Adults may check out 20 items at a time. Youth can hold up to 10 items.

Lost or damaged materials

If you lose a book or it gets damaged, please let us know as soon as you can. You can pay a replacement fee or bring in a brand-new copy of the same edition.

Computer and internet use

We offer free public computers and wireless internet. You must log in with your library card or a guest account.

Printing and copying

Printing costs $0.25 per black-and-white page and $0.50 per colour page. You must pay at the desk before printing.

Acceptable use

Please use our computers for lawful and educational purposes. We block access to illegal content and will ask you to stop if you try to access restricted sites.

Room bookings and spaces

Meeting rooms are available for community groups and non-profit organizations. For-profit events require a separate rental agreement.

Booking rules

Bookings must be made through the online portal or by calling the branch. A $50.00 security deposit is required for after-hours use.

Public conduct and privacy

We expect all visitors to treat staff, other patrons, and our buildings with respect. Loud noises, disruptive behaviour, and sleeping in the library are not allowed during operating hours.

Privacy

We protect your privacy in line with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. We do not share your borrowing history or personal details with anyone.

Book donations and recycling

We welcome book donations to grow our collection. Staff will review every donation, and you will receive a receipt if the item is accepted.

Recycling

We run a book recycling program for items we cannot use. Old books and magazines are collected monthly and sent to local paper mills.

Interlibrary loans

If we do not have a book you need, we can borrow it from a library in another city. This service is free for residents, but it can take up to two weeks to arrive.

How to request a policy change

If you have suggestions for updating our rules, you can submit them to the Library Board. Public comments are welcome at our monthly meetings, which are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Branch community room. See Library board of trustees for more information.
