Welcome to the Wrenford Archives
The Wrenford Archives sits inside the Old Mill Museum & Archives at 12 Mill Street. We hold thousands of items that tell the story of our city, from the first grist mill in 1834 to today. You can visit the reading room to view original documents, maps, photographs, and newspapers. We also welcome donations of local history materials from residents.
What you will find
- City records: Council minutes, planning files, and historical maps going back to the 1800s.
- Family histories: Census records, church registers, and personal papers from Wrenford families.
- Newspapers: Microfilm and digital copies of the Wrenford Gazette and other local publications.
- Photographs and postcards: Images of streets, buildings, and neighbourhoods across the city.
- Building files: Original permits and architectural drawings for heritage properties downtown.
Visiting the reading room
You can view materials in person during our open hours. We ask that you book an appointment ahead of time so we can pull the boxes you need and reserve a table for you. Use our online appointment booking portal to schedule your visit.
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Address: 12 Mill Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A8
Phone: 519-555-0133
Bring your own laptop or tablet to take notes. We have a few computer stations available, but they are first-come, first-served. You may take pencil notes, but pens are not allowed near the materials. Flash photography is not permitted; however, you can scan documents yourself or request a staff member to help you.
We ask that you keep visits to two hours so others can use the space. Digital copies of documents must be removed within 14 days. We offer black-and-white photocopies for 50 cents a page. If you need a custom scan of a large map or a fragile document, submit a digitization request. It usually takes four to six weeks to complete these projects through our digitization request queue.
Donating materials
We are always looking for items that show life in Wrenford. If you have old letters, photographs, business records, or neighbourhood stories, we would love to review them. Please fill out our archival donation screening form online or call us to discuss what you have. All accepted items become part of the permanent Wrenford collection and are available for public research.
